IF Topic: Tales and Legends
Eliza Dolittle is a character that has always fascinated me. I read the play, Pygmalion (George Bernard Shaw) in middle school and it was years until I saw Audrey Hepburn (one of my favs) play Eliza in the musical, My Fair Lady. I love the undercurrent idea in the story of Pygmalion that happiness isn’t a byproduct of wealth or social status. Eliza ultimately chooses her own happiness, regardless of the desires of the people who try to mold her to their ideals.
Admittedly, I am also fascinated by the romantic vision of Edwardian England and I love a good love story!
Later, much!

Illustration Friday topic: Hats
Ok, so it’s not exactly a hat, it’s a hood but I thought this illustration of Little Red Riding Hood was appropriate for this weeks IF topic. Why not?
Illustration Friday: Momentum
It’s been a busy week here in Traylorilloland. I’m working double-time to make up for being sick four days last week so I had a moment to sketch out something in my little moleskine for this weeks topic, momentum…but a moment is about it for me. So here’s the drawing…a pair of foxes running through the snow.
I have always been interested in capturing movement and dynamic subject matter in a two-dimensional space. My style of drawing is somewhat loose and my sketching is even more so. This sketch is the beginnings of research for a larger project involving foxes and more for my own purposes. I want to get a feel for the weight and body-structure of those animals so I can create a fox character that feels “real” yet isn’t a totally realistic representation of the animal.
I will likely post a finished product here next week for this sketch.

“He thought he was being careful as he made his way home, but he must have made more noise than he thought. Either way, he really didn’t like the look of the shadowy visitor on the doorstep. So, swiftly and silently as possible, he made his way into the deep and dark tunnels of the warren, hoping the curious cat would lose interest.”
Wow, it’s been so very long since I posted an actual new illustration for an Illustration Friday topic. I’m pretty happy with this one…If you want to see the original sketch for this, go here…Danny Sketch
